It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia: 10 Most Insane Fan Theories
7. This Is Your Dee On Drugs
This is a fascinating theory that seeks to explain the reasons as to why Dee was so reserved and passive in the first season. The character that we know and love didn't start to come out of her shell until season two as originally she was written to be the sensible one within The Gang. This, of course, was incredibly limiting, and every fan was glad that it changed.
This theory dictates that Dee only acted in this reserved and calm way because she was heavily medicated and forced to be passive. It is stated in the episode Gun Fever Too: Still Hot that Dee set her college roommate on fire and was institutionalised as a result. It would make sense after this for her to have been heavily sedated following her release from the hospital.
Unfortunately for Dee, it seems that once she came into the employ of Paddy's Pub, her ability to obtain the medica that kept her level-headed disappeared. As a result, she spiralled into a dangerous dive that ended up in her being the mess of a bird that we all adore.
