Jack Bauer vs Walter White: Who's The Most Badass Character?

9. Body Count

Jack: According to those bothered enough to scan through every episode and count, Jack Bauer has killed 268 people on-screen throughout 8 seasons and a TV movie of 24. Though the vast majority of these kills are with conventional firearms, some of his more creative kills include the use of scissors, a hacksaw, explosive fests, a fire axe, a fire poker and even some good old fashioned fists. Walt: Breaking Bad has less than 1/3 the number of episodes that 24 has, yet Walt has still managed to rack up an impressive number of kills, even if it is on a technicality. Walt began the show as a man totally averse to killing, and was introduced to it when he was forced to strangle Krazy-8 with a bike lock in self defense. The real kicker came in Season 2 though when Walt became indirectly responsible for two planes crashing, by allowing Jane to choke on her own vomit, which in turn made her father Donald fail in his duties as an air traffic controller. All 167 aboard both planes died, and though it would never hold up in a court of law that Walt was responsible for the deaths, his actions in failing to save Jane resulted in a direct line of causation towards the crash. WINNER: If Jack's kills were almost always in the name of the bigger picture, Walt's were instead largely for his own survival, such as allowing Jane to die, or running over drug dealers, or ordering Gale's death. Still, the numbers speak the loudest, and Jack wins, but not by as much as you might expect.
