The season's seventh episode is largely devoted to exploring Jessica's earlier life as a college student, explaining not only the origins of her famous black leather jacket, but also where she got the name Alias Investigations from.

It turns out that Jess used the name in tribute to her ex-boyfriend Stirling Adams (Mat Vairo), who was of course murdered, initially unbeknown to her, by her own mother.

Stirling was originally planning to open up a club called Club Alias, but naturally, his brains being splattered over a brick wall by a crazed Alisa kinda made that impossible.
