Jessica Jones Season 3 Review: 4 Ups & 6 Downs
2. The Visually Ugly Action Sequences
Now in fairness, Jessica Jones has always been the least action-centric of all the Netflix Marvel shows and with good reason, but this season's occasional set-pieces fall almost universally flat.
There's always been a frustrating inconsistency across the Defenders' series with regard to the action: Daredevil of course set a gold standard early on, and Iron Fist was, well, basically the complete opposite.
The sparse action here is shot with a total indifference that suggests the directors weren't really happy to do it at all.
The editing is genuinely laughable if not embarrassing at times, with a near-total lack of continuity between shots that gives off an unmistakably cheap, care-free vibe.
Again, the action sequences are thankfully few and far between, but the few that do appear are clumsy (and not in a good way) and thoughtlessly staged.
