D is for... Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog
As much as I actually loved Whedon's short running TV show Dollhouse, and of course this will be featured not too further down this list, D had to be devoted to Dr. Horrible. Arguably Whedon's strangest creation, and one of his most fun, this is a musical miniseries that was written during the writers strike and was done on a very low budget. If you haven't watched this very short, but very funny and epic three act web series I suggest you do. A story about a world with superheroes from the point of view of a lovable villain played by TV and Broadway star Neil Patrick Harris, and it's a musical... what's not to love. It was named one of Time magazines best inventions of 2008 and in July of this year Whedon announced that production for a sequel would begin next Spring, which he and his family (literally) of writers have been working on for the past couple of years. Whedon sure does have a lot of project commitments, but Whedon is a great song writer and director, and I can't wait to see this.
E is for... Eliza Dushku
Eliza deserved a space on this list. Not only was she one of the more interesting characters on Buffy and Angel with her fascinating and complex roles as Faith, which once even almost got its own spin-off show, but Eliza and Joss worked together on Joss' latest TV series Dollhouse, which was a much greater show than it got credit for being. A truly interesting science fiction series unlike anything that has ever been on TV. Sure, it is the worst of Joss's shows, but considering the standard he set for himself, it is never anything less than great. Eliza may have struggled with her role as Echo, a girl who could have her mind wiped and then reloaded with any persons memory... but this was a highly tough gig and she wasn't even close to terrible. However as Faith she truly shined, and I for one would love to see Whedon call up his good friend again and cast this TV beauty, and talented actress in his next TV show, Marvel's SHIELD... she'd be great in a role as a Shield agent if you ask me.
F is for... Firefly
Firefly is probably the most popular one season (well, half a season) cult show that has ever aired on television. Its devoted fans known as Browncoats love this TV series almost as passionately as the Trekkie's, and you'd be hard pushed to go to a sci-fi convention and not see a couple of Mals, Jaynes or Rivers walking around. This show had so much potential it is literally criminal that it only got to make 14 episodes, though each one was truly great. The cast was really like no other, bringing greats like Nathan Fillion (Castle), Morena Baccarin (Homeland), Summer Glau (Sarah Conner Chronicles) and even in a smaller role Mad Men's Christina Hendricks. Fortunately, the criminally canceled television show got its chance to star in a truly kick-ass feature film written and directed by Whedon, but if you ask us, now that Whedon is rolling in cash, I'd much prefer to see him bring back Firefly to TV than start the SHIELD show. Most of the cast would surely be down for it, Whedon has stated time and time again how much he was upset by the shows cancellation, and the show has grown dramatically in popularization since it's original airing.
