Judd Apatow co-producing HBO comedy pilot

Deadline report that HBO have ordered a pilot from Judd Apatow (The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Knocked Up) and new talent Lena Dunham; an untitled coming-of-age comedy, written and directed by the 24-year-old Dunham, about a group of twentysomething girls. Dunham recently earned plaudits as the writer-director-star of semi-autobiographical movie Tiny Furniture, which won the top jury prize at the South By Southwest film festival. It's uncertain how involved Apatow will be in this project, should it get picked up by HBO, but considering his smallscreen oeuvre includes short-lived cult favourites Freaks & Geeks and Undeclared, it would be great if he gave this the same level of attention and commitment. However, considering Apatow's progressed to cinema and is no doubt extremely busy with multi-million dollar projects, I have a suspicion he's simply helping a talented newcomer get their big break. Still, even without Apatow's day-to-day participation, it's always great when a new talent emerges like Dunham and an established name gives them support. Has anyone seen her movie Tiny Furniture?

Dan Owen hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
