Beyond Mega-City One's limits lies The Cursed Earth, a radioactive hellhole inhabited by mutants, scavengers, and other beings considered too unpleasant to be housed in the comparable comfort of the city-state.
So many classic 2000 AD stories have taken place in this massive, post-apocalyptic desert, including one where Dredd does battle with a T-Rex.
The Cursed Earth is also home to the villainous Angel gang - characters who are bound to show up in the TV show at some point - and they're one of several threats to have sprung from the irradiated wastes over the years.
