This has already been hinted at because of how much it influenced everything else that happened in Kingdom Come story arc. Without further ado, let’s dive into it proper now. The version of Bruce Wayne we meet in this reality is a man whose faith has been shattered. He has seen the world choose violence over peace time and time again, and when it becomes painfully clear that the people have no trust in his brand of heroism and believe it to be obsolete, Bruce decides to walk away.

Even when it all comes to a head, the caped crusader stays determined to prevent battle instead of fighting it. Eventually, it takes Superman’s finest words and the world around him about to crumble, for Bruce to finally remember who he is and what he represents.

In the end, his intervention in the final battle is crucial for preventing the full nuclear massacre. And despite all the loss of life, once the dust settles, the world was in in need of Batman more than ever. As far as the Crisis goes, only time can tell what Kevin Conroy’s first live action portrayal of the Bat will bring.
