Loki Season 2 Episode 2 Review - 6 Ups & 2 Downs

7. Down - OB's MacGuffins

In episode one, Ke Huy Quan made his anticipated debut in the MCU as OB, and instantly became one of the most popular characters in the series. The man behind every technical part of the TVA was insanely likeable, and thankfully there was more of his presence to enjoy in episode two.

However, the series does seem to be coming dangerously close to pigeon-holing OB into just being the guy who creates and builds MacGuffins to further the plot.

Yes, the character is entertaining, but how long will it be until this kind of thing gets old? In episode one he had to build a Temporal Aura Extractor, and he introduced the Temporal Loom as a concept. This week he is being forced to manufacture yet another MacGuffin to get around the fact that the TVA does't have access to He Who Remains' temporal aura.

As a whitty, loveable character, OB could bring so much more to the series than just being a plot device, which is really all he has been used for so far. Hopefully, the remainder of the series can put him to more use, though based on what has been seen of him so far, that may not be the case.
