Lost: 20 Easter Eggs, In-Jokes And References You Must See

1. "Hoffs/Drawlar" Equals "Flash Forward"

Episode: Through The Looking Glass One of Lost's greatest twists came at the very end of season three, with the landmark episode Through The Looking Glass. In said episode, a scene featuring Jack and Kate is suddenly - and unexpectedly - revealed to be taking place in the future (instead of in the past), thus injecting the show with a brand new narrative device: the "Flash Forward." In a very subtle easter egg, then, the writers hinted towards this upcoming event by way of an anagram: a funeral parlour seen in the episode is named "Hoffs/Drawlar," and these letters - of course - can be rearranged to spell out the word "Flash Forward." Once again, this isn't something that people might have noticed right off the bat, but it's a neat egg. It's also interesting to learn that J.J. Abrams and co-writer Damon Lindelof actually planned to have flash forwards in Lost back when they originally conceived the show, but the pair somehow waited all the way until season three to utilise them. To quote Jack Shepard in this stunning episode: "We have to go back, Kate! We have to go back!" Like this article? What do you make of these in-jokes, easter eggs and references?
