4. Genre Bending
Every comedy series has its deep moments, but "Louie" is genuinely the only comedy show I have seen that can have full episodes without any laughs. Although that sounds like a bad thing, it really isn't, because C.K. masters every genre he touches. While viewing this show, it's normal to be laughing hysterically one moment, then be horrified the next. In fact, if there is an episode that's entirely laughs, you start to think something might be up. Think about it; if your favorite comedy series had full episodes that weren't funny, it would be infuriating. It always works on "Louie", though. It shouldn't work, not at all, but it somehow always does.
