We might have to wait until 2021, but it'll be worth it.

The upcoming Summer Edition of Love Island UK has been canceled and even the most die-hard fans would agree it’s for the best, given the world’s current situation. However, it just makes us wait with greater anticipation for when the iconic show will eventually return to our screens.

Love Island is a guilty pleasure and a great source of entertainment. The chances are, if you’re a fan, you only dipped into an episode because a couple of work colleagues were talking about it and once you gave into it, you couldn’t stop. The show has faced many controversies over the years but has also grown in popularity, becoming one of the most-watched reality TV shows of the decade. It even received the BAFTA TV Award for the ‘Best Reality and Constructed Factual’ category in 2018.

Love Island has been a success because it understands how to do Reality TV and ticks all the boxes for what we expect of the genre. It’s easy to watch, entertaining, and extremely addictive.

10. A Potential New Location

During the first ever Winter edition of Love Island, the islanders were re-located the set to a beautiful Midden Cottage, in the Constantia suburb of Cape Town. It was a refreshingly different setting and viewers got to feast their eyes on the lavish new villa as a backdrop for the drama.

And with the upcoming series of an unknown starting date, there is plenty of time for the creators to revise over new areas to film the show. The latest suggestion is for Series 7 to be filmed in The Canary Islands. As any dedicated fan knows, the romantic couples of Love Island are often sent out on fun and adventurous dates and the setting of The Canary Islands is ideal for this. It’s a popular holiday destination because it’s versatile for its activities – surfing, golfing, exploring wildlife etc.

And more intriguingly, there is potential for the latest series to be recorded in the Isle of Man – one of Great Britain’s very own locations. It’s a place filled with stunning beaches and captivating scenery, and it would certainly defeat the stereotype that the UK is just London with no sunshine. After all, a British show deserves to have a good reputation of its own culture.
