Love, Victor Review: 7 Ups & 3 Downs

5. A Huge Step Forward For LGBTQ+ Representation

While modern-day television certainly has far more LGBTQ+ representation than mainstream Hollywood cinema, we should be viewing Love, Victor as just as major of an accomplishment as its predecessor.

We've seen a number of shows in the past feature a gay protagonist, yes, but just as Simon did, Love, Victor focuses primarily on a gay teenager attempting to find himself, all while toying with the idea of a romance with another boy. And he's not playing a supporting role in somebody else's story; the show is his story.

There's no downplaying this; just as Love, Simon was a huge step forward for the gay community in terms of representation on the big screen, Love, Victor does the same on the small one. And that should be celebrated for the major win that it is.
