Love, Victor Season 2 Review: 8 Ups & 3 Downs

4. Felix Shines In A Subplot Standout

Love Victor Felix
Hulu

There is a strong case to be made for Felix having the season's most engaging story. That's not a slight on the rest of the season but an indicator of how strong his arc is.

We caught glimpses of his internal conflict in the first season when he took Lake to his house but that very much comes to the forefront here. Attempting to keep his family together, he takes on multiple new jobs so that he can pay rent and protect his mother from the real world. But the cracks begin to show as he must face a difficult choice over protecting his mother like he has been doing or getting her the help that she needs.

Felix has always been one of Love, Victor's most engaging characters. On the surface, he's a source of constant comic relief, often lightening up a heavy moment with his quirky one-liners and self-deprecating humour. But what made him truly endearing was the fact that there was something beneath all that humour. And that conflict comes to life in a really striking manner.
