Love, Victor Season 2 Review: 8 Ups & 3 Downs
3. Subverting Expectations
Another one of the season's most interesting storylines revolves around Victor's parents as Isabel and Armando attempt to find out what separated life looks like. However, their separation is used incredibly well to highlight their differing views of Victor's coming out as Armando copes with his son's sexuality much better than Isabel does.
A unique spin on the 'unaccepting father' trope, it presents the brilliant Ana Ortiz with a really powerful story as Victor's mother must find a way to overcome everything she had been taught about the idea of being gay and accept her son for who he is.
A refreshing subversion of the norm, Ortiz is phenomenal and this story is one of Love, Victor's most powerful, highlighting what might just be the show's most important relationship in the process.
