Luke Cage Season 2: 22 WTF Moments
2. Tilda Poisons Mariah
The big shock of the season, however, is the climactic revelation that Tilda poisoned her mother Mariah when visiting her in prison. When Luke meets with her later, the poison kicks in and she expires in Luke's arms. She tells him, "It burns", and he justifiably replies with, "Good."
Her haunting final words tell Luke it's not over yet, while in somewhat less convincing fashion, Tilda ascends to become the head of the Stokes family. It's understandable that Tilda would want her mother dead, but the implication that Tilda's now taking her place seemed a bit forced.
Still, it was a generally terrific end for the show's best character - and certainly its best-acted character - so don't be surprised if season three struggles to fill the void left by Alfre Woodard's brilliance.
