Luke Cage Season 2: 32 Easter Eggs & References Explained

8. Game Of Thrones

Game Of Thrones Daenerys Drogon

Because it's 2018 and just about everything can't resist but reference Game of Thrones, Luke Cage gets in on the party too. In episode ten, one of D.W.'s young comrades tells Luke he's using his powers all wrong, and if he had the same abilities, he'd shout "Dracarys!" and deliver "Straight flames for them n****s."

This is a nod to Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) shouting the phrase when she wishes her dragon Drogon to light up an enemy, and upon listening to the constructive criticism, Luke tells the kid, "[rap group] State Property and Game of Thrones do not mix." The kid, undeterred, replies, "Nah, when you high, that s*** sounds right."

7. Power Man & Iron Fist

Danny Rand aka Iron Fist (Finn Jones) swings by for a basically self-contained appearance in episode ten, and not only is it a surprisingly charming and entertaining team-up episode, but it also nods at Luke Cage and Danny Rand's pairing from the comics.

Shortly after Danny shows up at Pop's Barber Shop, D.W. quips, "Power Man and Iron Fist. That's got a ring to it. That's going on a t-shirt for real", while Luke looks both exasperated and amused.

It's clear as day that, while both Luke Cage and Iron Fist's respective shows have their issues, when the two are brought together they're an incredibly appealing screen combo. More of this, please, be it in The Defenders or an actual Power Man & Iron Fist mini-series.
