Luke Cage Season 2: 32 Easter Eggs & References Explained
28. Tupac Shakur
When Cockroach (Dorian Missick) and Comanche (Thomas Q. Jones) are sharing a friendly drink at Harlem's Paradise, Cockroach asks Comanche what he read while incarcerated at Seagate prison, to which Che answers, "Machiavelli."
Cockroach amusingly replies "Tupac wrote a book?", referring to the fact that the iconic rapper nicknamed himself "Makaveli" after the Italian philosopher Niccolò Machiavelli.
27. Power Man
Luke Cage's comic book alias is, of course, "Power Man", which is given a few sly references throughout the season.
In episode one, Claire calls Luke Power Man specifically, and in the season's tenth episode, D.W. shows off a nifty new piece of merch he's had made: a bright yellow Power Man hoodie with a logo bearing a distinct similarity to the Power Man logo from the comics. Nice.
