Luke Cage Season 2: 32 Easter Eggs & References Explained

22. Moby-Dick

Herman Melville's Moby-Dick is one of the most influential and frequently-referenced pieces of literature in pop-culture history, and it gets a quick tip of the hat in this season's third episode.

With one of the show's characters being nicknamed "Piranha" (Chaz Lamar Shepherd), it shouldn't be terribly surprising that there are a number of aquatic puns and references, with a scheming Mariah proclaiming, "Ahab ain't got s*** on me" (referring to Moby Dick's troubled protagonist Captain Ahab).

This isn't even the first MCU show to nod to the classic novel: in The Punisher, we see Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) reading it during some brief downtime.

21. Daughters Of The Dragon

Episode three also sees a brief team-up between Misty Knight and Iron Fist's Colleen Wing (Jessica Henwick), with the latter helping the former get back on her feet both physically and spiritually.

The two make short work of some aggressive goons who attempt to spoil their fun in a bar, in what's a clear homage to their comic book teaming as the Daughters of the Dragon.

As if that wasn't enough, Misty and Colleen are even wearing the same coloured attire they famously wore in the comics. Fingers crossed we get to see more of this pairing in the future, because it's one of the season's breezy highlights.
