20. Shabba Ranks

Episode three concludes with Luke being laid out during his first encounter with Bushmaster (Mustafa Shakir), and the next episode opens with D.W. telling a concussed Luke, "Damn, Luke. Shabba Ranks laid you out."

Shabba Ranks is a famed Jamaican musician, and aside from being a nod to the Jamaican window dressing of the season, is clearly a joke about Bushmaster bearing a noticeable physical similarity to the dancehall icon.

This isn't even a one-off: later in the season Sugar also refers to Bushmaster simply as "Shabba."

19. James Cameron Heroines

In episode four Luke and Misty end up reluctantly teaming up to chase down some leads, and as Misty nimbly checks her gun with her single arm, Luke seems impressed at how easily she can manoeuvre around even with the missing appendage.

He compliments her, "Wow, that was some real Ripley in Aliens s***", to which Misty replies, "I was going for Sarah Connor." Unless you've been living under a rock for the last 35 years, these Aliens and Terminator references basically speak for themselves.
