Luke Cage Season 2: 32 Easter Eggs & References Explained
18. Captain America
When Bushmaster confronts Mariah at Harlem's Paradise about their shared, troubled past - namely the fact that Mariah's grandmother Mabel murdered Bushmaster's mother in order to stop his family profiting from the two families' shared businesses - she basically tells him to let sleeping dogs lie, complete with an overt reference to one of the MCU's frontline superheroes.
She says, "Maybe some things are better left dead. And frozen in the ice." If that's not an amusingly on-the-nose reference to Captain America, then what is?
17. The Lone Ranger
When Luke ends up on the receiving end of a lawsuit from Cockroach, he enlists the legal counsel of Daredevil's Foggy Wilson (Elden Henson).
Foggy asks him, "If you're gonna fight crime, have you considered wearing a mask?", to which Luke replies, "I'm 6'3", black and bulletproof. You think wearing a Lone Ranger mask is gonna keep people from figuring out who I am?"
Well, he sure ain't wrong.
