Mad Men: 10 Worst Things Don Draper Did

6. Making His Business Partner Commit Suicide

In many ways, working with Don Draper is as bad as being married to him. Just ask Lane Pryce. When Sterling Cooper was about to be eaten up by it's London partner, Lane stepped in and saved the day. He took a massive risk and helped out his business partners, who had become his friends since he moved over from England. He pumped his own money into the business, and after performing the miracle of keeping it afloat, saving everyone's jobs in the process, he did wonders again in putting the agency on a good financial footing. Unfortunately Lane paid a price, so to speak. In saving the company, he got himself heavily in debt. While Don and the others rocketed to millionairedom, he struggled to make ends meet. In a desperate situation, deprived of the christmas bonus he was counting on, he forged Don's signature and committed fraud. Don quickly finds out and confronts him. He tells him it's not the money that matters; he can't trust him any more and Lane is forced to resign. Soon after, shamed, bankrupt and unemployed, he commits suicide in his office.
