The most surprising feature of Sunday's finale was the surprise romance between Peggy and Stan. It had been bubbling away for a few episodes, the sexual tension, and it's been clear for a while that they've had some chemistry, but something just didn't feel right. If it had happened earlier in the show, it would have made an interesting side-plot for half a season, but it's hard to see this working out. Peggy is set on rising through the ranks to the very top. Stan doesn't have the same drive, and while an episode or two was spent earlier in the season fleshing out his character, it's hard to see him not getting left in the dust by his new girlfriend. Of course, Stan seems like the type of guy who could accept that, but could Peggy stomach being with anyone who's going to hold her back? This probably isn't meant to last. A lot of fans don't seem to think so at least.
