Mad Men Finale: 10 Things That Happened Next

5. Peggy Becomes An Evil Ad Monster

While Don was always good at his job, he was principled with it. He wanted to sell and knew he was manipulating people with his ads, but somehow it always came from a good place. His work was always built around happiness, and even if it was a shallow version of happiness or a total fabrication, it was desire he played on, not fear. With Peggy you never really see her considering the moral implications of her work. Don was aware of the shortcomings of his job and frequently battled with them, ultimately resolving to stick with it, not because it made him a good person, but because nobody else was any better. He always had a firm but fair hand with clients and colleagues also. With Peggy, you get the impression she's worked so hard for the opportunity that nothing will get in her way. Several times she's been criticised for her career path and each time she's batted these away without a second thought. As she rises up the ranks at Mccann-Erickson things will only get tougher, and it's arguable she'll have to abandon her scruples altogether if she wants to succeed.
