The trailer for Netflix’s upcoming original series, Maniac, has received near-universal acclaim for providing a first look at what has been hailed as potentially one of Netflix’s best original productions to date.

Based on the Nordic comedy series of the same name and set in a mysterious laboratory, it follows two participants in a clinical trial for a revolutionary new medical treatment that claims to be able to repair anything about the mind.

Directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga, who collaborated with Netflix on their 2015 feature film debut Beasts of No Nation, and starring two of Hollywood’s most well-known stars, La La Land’s Emma Stone and The Wolf of Wall Street’s Jonah Hill, Maniac certainly looks set to have an intriguing premise, with a big-name director and cast which makes the trailer an exciting look at what could be one of the best new TV series of 2018.

However, despite this excitement, there are still a number of unanswered questions that the trailer poses meaning there's still a chance that, upon its full release, Maniac could fail to live up to its own hype.
