1. It Is Going To Be Darkly Funny

With Maniac being billed as a ‘dark comedy’, there will of course be elements of humour within the show and the trailer proves this. With the variety of strange situations the characters find themselves in there will be no lack of opportunity for the show’s writer, Patrick Somerville, to insert some dark humour.

Both of the show’s stars, especially Hill, have a filmography including a sizable number of comedy films and even starred together in 2007’s Superbad. This makes them both clearly capable of comedic acting so are well placed to be able to turn the script into a reality and showcase the show’s more comedic elements.

The show’s ability to live up to its billing will be essential to help it stand out from the myriad of other science fiction TV shows and, most importantly, could be the difference between it becoming successful or not.
