Marvel's Iron Fist: What Does The Ending Really Mean?
4. Could Zhou Cheng Return?
Though Lewis Tan probably wishes he was able to get through the casting process to become Iron Fist rather than Finn Jones (and let's be honest, his fighting ability would have made him a MUCH better candidate), he is still responsible for the best sequence in the entire show. Sure, he has problems nailing down one accent, but he more than makes up for it in the exceptional scene that owes a lot to Jackie Chan's Drunken Master movies.
Hopefully, a combination of his show-stealing popularity and the fact that he's only knocked out, rather than killed, at the end of his big scene suggests that there might well be a future for Zhou Cheng. After all, in the comics he's billed as The One Who Kills The Iron Fist, and you don't earn that title without a fearsome powerset.
The scene actually establishes that Cheng is medicating himself to stop his powers emerging fully, and it's definitely intriguing to imagine what he would be like sober. Given his experience, you'd have to imagine Davos, Gao and Joy would look into using him as a weapon against the Iron Fist.
Just as long as he gets another drunken fight sequence, of course...
