Marvel's Iron Fist: What Does The Ending Really Mean?

10. Who Lives, Who Dies?

Like Daredevil, Danny Rand spends a good deal of the show wringing his hands about the prospect of killing anyone, because it will mess up his chi - so at least he has more of an excuse than DD just being a "nice guy". But, having said that, there are still a few notable deaths in Iron Fist.

Joy Meacham almost dies, but when she's shot, Bakuto the highly trained leader of a ninja assassin cult manages to miss all major organs. Similarly, Danny and Colleen are both struck with super sharp samurai swords, but both emerge with only tiny scrapes in the exact same place on their arms.

All of the main heroes survive, including Ward Meacham, who flip-flops his allegiance every couple of episodes - but Harold Meacham is killed in the final episode, despite being an undead zombie. Will he come back? Possibly. Despite being cremated, Harold could return thanks to the loophole that the Hand's revived zombies have to have their heads removed to kill them. Sure, burning his head off might also work, but we'll see.

As for the other villains - Madame Gao doesn't die, Davos doesn't die either, and Bakuto seems to die but Colleen and Danny foolishly turn their back on his "body" and he disappears. Presumably because he's sampled the Hand's undead formula himself too.
