Marvel's Iron Fist: What Does The Ending Really Mean?

6. Are Joy And Davos Now Working With Gao?

The finale episode features one of the most problematic plot threads of the entire show, as it turns out that Joy meets up with Davos to discuss their shared problem of Danny Rand and how he has ruined both of their lives.

This actually makes no sense. Literally moments ago, Joy was pleading with her father not to kill Danny, and now all of a sudden she's immediately happy to discuss doing the exact same thing with another of his villains. What changed in the meantime? Is she now willing to help Davos kill him because he conspired to take her job from her? There's no way Ward wouldn't allow her back in Rand, so it can't be that. It must be that he helped kill her father, which he didn't. She has literally no reason to be in this meeting.

Anyway, more importantly, Madame Gao is present at the same meeting, suggesting that she's working with one or both of Davos and Joy. Regardless of how odd their alliance would be, it's more likely to be Davos, since he tolerates her presence despite him being the sworn enemy of The Hand. But then maybe he recognises that she's not actually the real Hand any more than he is the real Iron Fist?
