7. Kilgrave Returns

Kilgrave's return had been revealed prior to the show dropping on Netflix: it was reported about, there were promo shots of him, and everyone involved spoke about it. What wasn't revealed was how he'd come back, when, or how long for.

The answers were revealed to be: as a product of Jessica's mind, in the eleventh episode and, most surprisingly, just for that one instalment. Kilgrave's return is wonderfully signposted with the purple hue added over the scene before David Tennant himself arrives back on the scene. From there he's a manifestation of Jessica's inner-thoughts, and does so in a dark, strange, and quite captivating way, before Jess manages to leave him behind, potentially for good.
