Marvel's Jessica Jones Season 2 Review: 6 Ups And 4 Downs

4. The Eventual Return Of Kilgrave

It wasn't a secret that David Tennant's Kilgrave would be returning this year, but what had remained a mystery was how it would happen: would it be a flashback, or dream, a vision, or might he even come back from the dead.

Thankfully it's not the latter, with Kilgrave instead returning as a manifestation of Jessica's mind, as her mental state becomes more fragile and she starts to struggle more under the weight of everything, he sneaks back into her life.

It doesn't happen until the 11th episode, but it helps that instalment become the best of the season, serving as a psychological introspection of Jessica as she battles her demons. It's an absolute thrill to see Tennant back in the role, and even though it's just for the one episode it pushes Jessica's story forward and provides a lot of excitement and drama too, along with some impressive direction from Lynch.
