Marvel's Luke Cage Main Trailer Breakdown: 20 Things You Need To See
17. Black Panther (And Mariah Dillard)

An introduction to one of the show's main characters: Harlem. Yes, the area of New York is going to be absolutely integral to the series. It may not be Hell's Kitchen, but it's as intrinsic to Luke Cage as that place has been to Daredevil, and it should offer the chance to mix things up a bit.
We got a nice piece of artwork advertising that 'Harlem Unite', which is a nod not just to the location, but also to black rights, and even Black Panther (a headine reads 'The Black Panther Party') - which isn't just an Easter egg to one of Marvel's other new heroes, but to the fact that T'Challa was actually a big inspiration of Luke Cage in the comics.
After that we meet another of the show's key characters, and a human one this time: Mariah Dillard. She's a local politician, and the cousin of Cornell 'Cottonmouth' Stokes, who wants to bring change to the streets of Harlem, and is dragged into the conflict between Cage and Stokes. She's not an outright villain, but isn't exactly 'good' either. We also see her standing by the side of Cottonmouth, so she'll be helping her cousin out as much as possible.
