10. Mama Mabel & Uncle Pete
Finest Moment: That finger chop.
The flash-backs in Luke Cage aren't all 100% successful: some run a little too long, some are unnecessary and over-state things that have already been explored elsewhere, but the backstory that establishes how Cottonmouth rose to power is great.
At first Mama Mabel and Uncle Pete seem to be fairly traditional parental characters: they want the best for their kids - whether that's through street experience or education - and they appear respectable. But then one of Cottonmouth's associates is discovered to have sold drugs, so Mama snips off his finger. It's an incredible, harsh reveal of their true nature.
And while Uncle Pete is clearly thoroughly reprehensible, he plays his part well too, and it's a shame we didn't get to see more of them. A Mama Mabel spin-off would be truly great.
