Marvel's Luke Cage Review: 9 Spoiler-Free Reasons It's Awesome
6. The Action Is Superb
This one should probably be a given, since the action in Daredevil has raised the bar where TV fight scenes (and superhero fight scenes on any screen) are concerned.
Luke Cage is clearly from the same family, with lots of examples of our hero beating up a bevy of bad guys. However, whereas Daredevil is all kicks and flips and masterful choreography, Cage is sheer brute force.
In the corridor fight scene (which is apparently a pre-requisite for these shows now), he uses a car door as a shield/battering ram, puts one guy through a wall, and another into the ceiling. He's a one-man wrecking crew, and the action represents that - he constantly moves forwards, and doesn't waste any time or energy, simply getting the job done efficiently and effectively. Similarly, when he gets hit, the camera shows how much pain it causes... for the guy doing the hitting.
