Marvel's Luke Cage Review: 9 Spoiler-Free Reasons It's Awesome

5. And The Story Will Have You Hooked

Luke Cage review
Netflix

A big part of the enjoyment of Luke Cage is character-based, in seeing how they interact and react. But that doesn't mean the storyline itself gets overlooked or left behind.

There's nothing dramatically game-changing in this regard, with Luke's motivations and the central conflict coming from a place we've certainly seen before, but it's done extremely well here.

It's a slow-burner of a show, and isn't afraid to take its time getting the pieces into place, and unspooling the truths behind the characters and plot. It weaves an engaging and entertaining tale, and right from the first episode - and in particular once you're a couple in - you're left wanting to watch the next one.
