Marvel's The Defenders: 10 Spoiler-Free Reactions To First Four Episodes

4. There Is A Lack Of Action

The Netflix Marvel shows have, especially thanks to Daredevil, carved out a reputation for being packed with some of the best fight scenes you'll see on a screen of any size. While there's lots of compelling drama too, the action is something they're really known for, and with four heroes instead of one it stands to reason there'd be even bigger throw-downs in The Defenders.

So far, however, that isn't really the case. The series does open on a fight scene, but it's an extremely dark one involving Iron Fist, which doesn't make for the most exciting start. There are a couple more thrills once Matt enters the fray, but they're few and far between.

We do then, of course, get the compulsory hallway fight scene. It's a good sequence that leaves you wanting more, especially in the way it showcases all of the heroes' different fighting styles, but it also lacks the intensity and excitement of those we've seen in both seasons of Daredevil. There's certainly potential for more (and better) fights to come, now that The Defenders are really established, but the first four episodes don't hit the high-points the show should be capable of.
