Marvel's The Defenders: 10 Spoiler-Free Reactions To First Four Episodes

5. The Pacing Is A Little Slow

A lot of Netflix shows, and certainly the Marvel ones, have pacing issues. Even the best of this universe, Daredevil and Jessica Jones, aren't exempt from a touch of Netflix drift, but it's an issue that typically surfaces over the course of a 13 episode season.

With just eight instalments, it was hoped that The Defenders would avoid this, but across the first half of the season things do move rather slowly. The first two episodes, in particular, represent a real slow burn, as each of the Defenders follows their own trail of breadcrumbs, and the wait for them to come together can be quite frustrating.

With only eight episodes, there really shouldn't be any fat, but it's not until the end of the third episode that the team comes together for the first time. Once they do join-up things really click into gear, but while some setup is inevitable - it obviously can't just throw these guys together right off the bat - it does take a little too long to get there, and without making the story to get to that point completely interesting.
