Marvel's The Defenders: 6 Reasons To Be Excited (And 4 To Be Worried)

1. The Hand Are Really Dull

Ranking very high among the worst decisions made by the people running these shows, up there with killing off Cottonmouth and casting Finn Jones, is the decision to make The Hand the overarching enemy of the entire universe.

They first appeared in the second season of Daredevil, and then were further fleshed-out in Iron Fist, and it's already been confirmed that they will be back in The Defenders, with Élodie Yung - aka Elektra aka Black Sky, the Hand's biggest weapon - in a main role for the series.

There's just one big problem with all of that, and it's the fact that, despite the Hand being a freakin' ninja death cult, they have somehow made them really, really boring. They lack any real personality, hoards of them are constantly fought off by just a couple of people, and we don't really know their true motivations beyond selling drugs and digging a big hole.

The Defenders might answer some of those questions, but it's going to have to work really hard to make the Hand an interesting villain (or villains, since there's technically two branches of the organisation that we know about).
