Marvel's The Defenders: 8 Huge Questions From The New Trailer
7. Has Alexandra Done This Before?
Alexandra narrates the opening of the trailer, presumably talking to Elektra as she does so (more on that in a bit). At the end of her monologue she says: "It's just a city. You'll get used to watching them fall."
The obvious explanation is that Alexandra is planning on using Elektra to take down more cities after New York. However, her callous tone may indicate that when she's using "you" in her sentence, it's less of a directed statement and more of a general sense. Why? Perhaps Alexandra is speaking from experience.
After all, if you're a crime boss looking to physically destroy a city populated with millions of people, it would make sense to do a test run on somewhere more small scale and less iconic. Carving out a giant hole in the middle of the Big Apple probably woudn't be something you'd do unless you knew what you were doing.
Demonstrating prior success stories would only serve to make Alexandra a more monstrous villain, and a highly competent one at that. A status as a war criminal, responsible for wiping out previous civilian populations, really hammers home just why the Defenders absolutely must take her down.
We've seen plenty of comic book villains try to play their biggest hand in their first attempt and utterly fail. Weaver's Alexandra could provide a new source of awesome.
