Marvel's The Defenders: 8 Huge Questions From The New Trailer
6. What Will The Relationship Between Alexandra And Elektra Be Like?
Alexandra is a character that is largely shrouded in mystery. As of writing, we're not even sure what her last name is, with many theorizing that she is a gender-swapped version of comic book character Alexander Bont. So her plans for Elektra in the upcoming series aren't quite clear.
Elodie Yung has definitively stated that Elektra lost her memory following her revival, and Alexandra is now training her to be a weapon. Could that also include some psychological manipulation? It's definitely a possibility. At least now we know why Elektra and Daredevil are fighting on opposite sides.
Sigourney Weaver also said that the relationship between the two women is the strangest relationship that Weaver has ever had on-screen. Considering she played Ellen Ripley, that's quite the feat.
So, what exactly will this relationship entail? One shot shows Weaver caressing the cheek of a clearly uncomfortable Elektra. Is this indicative of their relationship, or is Elektra just really not a fan of creepy John Travolta-esque face touching?
If Elektra's memories are gone, is the essence of who she is gone as well? Based on her reaction above, there's a chance that the old Elektra is in there somewhere, very much not on board with Alexandra's actions. One would assume that there would be a face turn in the cards somewhere for the assassin.
Also, how "weird" is the series willing to go? After all, we've already seen a man get beaten to death with an ice cream scoop.
