Marvel's The Defenders: 8 Ways It Saved Iron Fist
3. Much Better Fight Scenes To Work With
One of the biggest failings of Iron Fist was that for a show all about martial arts, just about all of the fight scenes (save for maybe one) were incredibly sloppy. They just weren't that exciting and the choreography was a long way away from good, especially in comparison to other Marvel shows like Daredevil.
Not only was the character unlikable, but they completely missed the mark with the one thing Danny Rand was supposed to be good at.
Luckily, The Defenders took it upon itself yet again to raise Iron Fist's stock, giving him much better action scenes to take part in this time around. His early scuffle with Luke Cage was good fun, he tore the house down by wreaking havoc on the Hand's boardroom even before the other Defenders joined in to make it even better, and he was an invaluable player in both the big fight in the Chinese restaurant and the underground final battle.
It just goes to show that simply letting a character play to their strengths (and doing so in a competent way) is one of the easiest ways to get your audience invested in them.
