14. Trish Walker

Only slightly better off is Trish Walker, Jessica's adoptive sister. Just like she did in JJ, Trish has a valuable role to play in conjunction with Jessica as her optimistic outlook and encouragement brilliantly contrast with her sis' cynicism. Similarly, her interest in what really caused episode one's earthquake ties into the main plot.

That said, in the latter half of The Defenders, Jessica doesn't need Trish to confide in as she has her fellow heroes for that instead - in particular, Matt. Likewise, once the earthquake plotline disappears, so does Trish's importance. For the most part, then, Trish's role in the series feels more like a contractual obligation rather than driven by a storytelling need.
