9. Elektra

On the one hand, Elektra has one of the fullest character arcs in The Defenders. She begins as an amnesiac assassin, before rediscovering her old self and eventually becoming the true villain of the piece.

The trouble is, though, that the Elektra we follow in this series is not the Elektra we met in Daredevil - the entertaining femme fatale who allowed Elodie Yung to inject some fun into her performance. Plus, Elektra's role as the Black Sky is left frustratingly undefined. For example, she appears to have super-strength and speed in the early episodes but her powers vanish and are never explained in the rest of the run.

In short, Elektra's story arc sums up the series as a whole: while the ideas are there on paper, the execution is too riddled with issues for it to soar.
