Marvel's The Defenders Review: 5 Ups And 7 Downs

4. It Does A Good Job Of Setting Up The Next Phase

While this is The Defenders, it's also a halfway point for each of the individual heroes, a brief stop before we get to the next seasons of the various solo shows.

To that end, it does a great job of laying the groundwork for the future. This is especially the case in the last 15 minutes or so, which puts a lot of nice bows on everything, giving a number of mini-endings, but the characters should all be taking something from this that carries over into their respective shows.

Jessica is ready to setup shop again, Danny has matured, Luke grew more into his role as Harlem's protector, and Matt, well, he almost died and is ready to be born again.

Even outside of the heroes, we had Colleen Wing and Misty Knight (sans arm) striking up a bond, clearly setting out the future for a Daughters of the Dragon team-up further down the line, and there's a lot to be excited about looking to the coming slate.
