Marvel's The Defenders Review: 5 Ups And 7 Downs

3. It Makes Danny Better

Heading into The Defenders, Iron Fist was the big question mark. His solo series had been the worst of the bunch, and Finn Jones was a big reason for that. Would he drag the other 75% down, or would they lift his quarter up?

Thankfully, it mostly turned out to be the latter. Danny Rand isn't suddenly a great hero, but he's a hell of a lot better in The Defenders than his own show.

Part of this is the show utilising him as the butt of so many jokes, which - even though it was done before Iron Fist arrived - feels like a satisfying way of dealing with that series. But it's also a Danny who has matured and is more responsible, and if anyone needed this team-up it was him.

It'll be interesting to see how it all translates back to Iron Fist Season 2, when he has to do all the heavy lifting himself, but he makes for a solid member of this team. He gets humbled, he has to learn from his mistakes, and, while Jones still isn't great, he becomes more likable as a result.
