Marvel's The Punisher: 10 Perfect Stories Netflix Could Adapt

9. Kingpin

The Punisher Jon Bernthal
Marvel Comics

Kingpin was one of the standout stories of PunisherMax, Frank Castle's time in Marvel's adult-only imprint. After Garth Ennis' run ended in 2008, the character was pretty much left in the middle of nowhere. No-one could manage to write the character as well as Ennis could, and most came across as nothing more than imitations of Ennis' work. That was until Jason Aaron came along.

Kingpin was Aaron's first run on Punisher, and had Frank Castle gunning for, you guessed it, Kingpin. In the book, Castle had no idea what Kingpin looked like, so the story would obviously have to be changed somewhat as in the MCU, they have a bit of a history together.

Kingpin is a violent tale brimming with sexuality and gore, and it delivers all three in a sublime way without feeling overly gratuitous. It has a sense of humour that makes you laugh when you shouldn't, it would fit perfectly in the Marvel Netflix universe. Above all else, Kingpin is edgy, twisted and would be impossible to turn off - perfect for binge watching.

Vincent D'Onofrio has recently said that he knows when Kingpin will return - could it be in The Punisher? We can live in hope!
