Marvel's The Punisher: 10 Perfect Stories Netflix Could Adapt

8. The Slavers

Jessica Jones showed us that Marvel and Netflix aren't afraid to talk about taboo subjects. The Slavers could be the perfect way for Marvel to continue pushing the envelope creatively. In a brilliantly told story, with a hugely important message Frank Castle saves a girl from an attempted rape and goes on to systematically dismantle the sex-savery ring responsible.

The Punisher we get to know in The Slavers is different from any other Punisher we've known before. He's full of an anger and fury that has rarely, if ever, been seen in comic books. When listening to the horrifying life story of the girl he saved, Frank is visibly shaken, and decides to enact vengeance against those responsible in a way that would be considered extreme, even for The Punisher.

The Slavers does an amazing job of portraying Garth Ennis' utter disgust for the subject matter, without seeming like a personal political diatribe. Ennis knows this character and his world so well, that he is able to seamlessly inject such a tough subject as sexual slavery and make it work, without simply cashing in on people's need for the taboo.

Some of the subject matter in The Slavers would more than likely have to be toned down for Netflix, that is unless Marvel really want to aim this series at a very adult audience. Thinking about it, that would be awesome and is absolutely the best way forward.
