Marvel's The Punisher Spoiler-Free Review

3. A Lack Of Story

Daredevil The Punisher

A familiar problem for anyone who has watched at least a couple of these shows is that the plots can be very thin, and despite largely removing itself from the shared universe The Punisher cannot escape this either.

The main thread of the series is that something happened back when Frank was in the army - something supposedly so terrible it justifies his actions now - and he is on a mission to uncover what that conspiracy was, as is Dinah Madani. And yet, over halfway through the season, there's enough of that story to fill maybe three episodes.

It's undercooked, stretched-out, and feels like Bourne Light, lacking in a clear antagonist, and instead left to coast on the strength of its main character and performer (lucky for them, he's up to the task).
