Marvel Cinematic Universe: 10 Best Netflix Characters

3. Kilgrave

Appeared On: Jessica Jones Easily one of the best - if not the best - villains to come out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in its entirety, Kilgrave helped the series stand out from the pack by having no interest in world-destroying goals. All that mattered to him was making himself comfortable, everyone else be damned, taking what he wanted when he wanted it with no grand-scale plan like all of his MCU contemporaries outside of his own self-serving nature and need for self-preservation. From having people mutilate those they love to trying to talk his way out of the fact he's a rapist, Kilgrave was despicable in every sense of the world, which makes the fact that David Tennant was able to tap into his humanity all the more astounding. Despite all the bad he's done - and there's definitely no excusing his choices - viewers were still able to glimpse the longing child underneath it all just enough to understand him, even if his adult decisions kept any sympathies at a deserved arm's reach. Tennant deserves all the credit he can get for humanizing the monster, with the show itself all the while daring viewers to reevaluate themselves for "liking Kilgrave" in the face of all he's done.
