Marvel's Daredevil: 10 Iconic Moments That Must Happen
3. The Death Of Elektra
The Netflix series chose to sidestep any direct mention of Elektra, instead referencing Matt's college fling with a 'Greek girl', but given the character's importance to the Daredevil mythos her inclusion as well as Bullseye's is all but inevitable.
After her diplomat father was killed by terrorists, Elektra ran off to Japan, eventually joining the ranks of The Chaste. Receiving training under the watchful eye of the order's leader, the enigmatic Stick, Elektra honed her skills but was eventually cast out. Elektra later joined up with The Hand for a brief period before leaving them as well. She returned to New York as a freelance assassin and clashed with Daredevil until her eventual death at the hands of Bullseye.
Frank Miller's saga has all the elements to make for brilliant television, with the character of Elektra providing a direct parallel to the titular hero's journey.
Despite occasionally wrestling with his own morality, Matt Murdock is ultimately a pure-hearted man who strives to honor the values instilled by his father, whereas Elektra is driven solely by anger, with Stick representing the extremity of simply denying any and all emotion - something that neither are able to do for different reasons.
